What happened in class today?
  • Students received the list of journal prompts for the unit on Hamlet, by William Shakespeare.
  • Students responded to Journal #1 about a time they experienced betrayal.
  • We then discussed moments of betrayal for 20 minutes of class.
  • Students brought lyrics to a song containing self pitying lyrics.  Songs in which the songwriter wallows in self pity.
  • We discussed the song "Ms. Misery" as an example and how to apply the exercise to our class blog.

What is for homework tonight?
  • Each student should cite lyrics from their selected song and reflect on the song.  Provide your opinion of the song, the songwriter and the subject matter.  Give the reader some context based on your understanding of what the song is about and then provide your opinion.  It was suggested that students include a picture to enhance the entry.
